Youth Council Gives Out $40,000

The Middletown Community Foundation’s Youth Advisory Council, made up of 24 students from area high schools who visit nonprofits throughout the school year and take applications for funding in the spring, awarded grants to area nonprofits this spring totaling $40,000.

Of these, $20,000 was distributed to 22 charities through its Summertime for Kids program to support safe, structured activities for area children and youth throughout the summer with grants of $1,000 or less each.

The remaining $20,000 was distributed in grants to 13 charities through its Fondersmith Youth Grants program. The largest was $4,250 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Butler County for a project to mentor the children of incarcerated parents. Other grants included $3,000 for the psychiatric and counseling services at One Way Farm home for abused and neglected children and $2,000 to the Great Miami Valley YMCA for Family Fun Nights at the Downtown Y.
